Are Gen Z Really More Religious than their Generational Predecessors?
There are, of course, several moving parts to such an assertion - there is a difference between young people embracing faith and young people going to church! However, as I have suggested previously, Generation Z is not less religious or less spiritual than Gen X or the Boomers, just less tolerant of flimsy, superficial, socially disengaged, uncritical, unreflective and often even hypocritical institutional religion.
The next post in my series on Christ Centred Deconstruction will raise critical questions about the church’s role in the mental well-being of young people - I look forward to your responses and engagement!
